KC Cat Clinic - Kansas City, MO - Meet Our Veterinarians

Dr. Eliza Sundahl - KC Cat Clinic - Kansas City, MO

Dr. Eliza Sundahl

Dr. Sundahl is board certified in Feline Practice. She started at the KC Cat Clinic in 1978 and became owner in 1979. She has been happily working with the wonderful clients and patients at the clinic ever since. She feels like she has the best job in the world.

She completed her veterinary studies at Kansas State University after graduating from Boston University. She has spent an inordinate amount of her professional life promoting feline medicine. She has held many positions in The American Association of Feline Practitioners, including 2 years as president. She was involved in establishing board certification in feline medicine through the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners and worked with that organization for many years to help veterinarians through the certification process.

Away from the veterinary world, she has been involved with her son’s school and activities. He’s moved onto medical school and she’s enjoying learning more about gardening and cooking. She shares her home with Boo and Angelo and the clinic with whoever is walking on the keyboard at that time.

KC Cat Clinic - Kansas City, MO - Dr. Ellen Gloor

Dr. Ellen Gloor

Dr. Gloor originally came to KC Cat Clinic in 1988 to work for Dr. Sundahl as a veterinary assistant while working on a degree in Biology at UMKC.  In the four years as an assistant, Dr. Gloor realized her desire to continue in the veterinary field and got her DVM degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1996.  After living and practicing veterinary medicine in Houston, TX, Springfield, MO and Tucson, AZ, Dr. Gloor returned to Kansas City in 2003 and was fortunate enough to be able to come full circle and work for Dr. Sundahl in 2004, this time as a veterinarian.  Although she enjoyed practicing veterinary medicine on canine companions, her greatest love is the kitties!

When not playing with kitties at the clinic, Dr. Gloor enjoys being out at the barn with her husband watching their daughter ride her hunter/jumper horse.  The three also share their home with 4 dogs, 4 cats and a hamster.  When spare time allows, Dr. Gloor also enjoys cooking, and she is trying to learn guitar.

Dr. Katherine "Kat" Hodes

Dr. Hodes was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. She received her BA in Biological Chemistry from Grinnell College in Iowa and went on to receive her DVM degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2009. Like Dr. Gloor, Dr. Hodes started her career at the KC Cat Clinic as a veterinary assistant before going to vet school. After five years of “mixed animal practice” (i.e. cats AND dogs), she returned to the Cat Clinic in 2014 as a part time veterinarian in order to pursue her dream of feline medicine. Dr. Hodes is an active member of several veterinary organizations including the American Association of Feline Practitioners and The American Animal Hospital Association.  She is currently pursuing board certification in Feline Medicine and could not be more happy to be a part of the KC Cat Clinic team!

In her free time, Dr. Hodes enjoys reading, living vicariously through home-improvement television and going the gym (or at least pretending to go to the gym). She also enjoys lounging with her four geriatric cats, a fun-loving lab and sassy grass finch. She is also a big fan of sleeping in and eating food prepared by her chef husband, Jacob.

 Dr. Sarah Wasmer

Dr. Wasmer grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and decided after a career unit in the 8th grade that she wanted to be a veterinarian. She later attended Kansas State University for her undergraduate as well as her veterinary degree . After graduating in 1989, she returned to the KC area and worked at several small animal practices on both the Kansas and the Missouri sides for 12 years . She was so grateful to join Dr. Sundahl working part time at the KC Cat Clinic in 2002 so that she could also be home more to raise her children-the combination became the two best jobs she has ever had! She remained at KC Cat Clinic until the Fall of 2014 when her veterinarian husband Mike’s
new career in state legislative work for Autism Speaks required frequent traveling and the kids became a full time job!

She is thrilled to be back working again in 2019 with the amazing doctors, staff, clients and of course the much loved feline patients that she discovered to be her preferred species during her senior year of clinics at Kansas State. She and Mike now share their home with 2 cats and 2 dogs, their son who will graduate next year and their daughter who is attending the University of Iowa. Dr. Wasmer enjoys her free time by watching movies or Netflix binges with her husband and kids or spending time with good friends and her church community. She also loves boating and relaxing at Lake Viking when she and family or friends can get away.
