The KC Cat Clinic was opened in 1974 and has been operated by Dr. Eliza K. Sundahl,
DVM, DiplomateABVP(Feline Practice), since 1978. Dr. Sundahl became certified by
the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in Feline Practice at the first offering of that exam in 1995.
She is one of fewer than 100 veterinarians in the country to be board certified in Feline Practice
and recently completed recertification. She pursued this rigorous path out of a desire to provide
a clinic setting in which clients can be offered the best information on which to base their
treatment choices for their pets.
Helping clients make informed decisions is an integral part of the clinic philosophy. One of the ways that the KC
Cat Clinic is special is the dedication that the staff has to explaining problems and the options
to handle them. Information as well as excellence in care are offered here. All of the
veterinarians that Dr. Sundahl chooses to work at the clinic value similar goals. Great consideration
is given to ensure consistency of care is delivered by our doctors. Which doctor sees a client
is based on their availability at the time of the office visit. If you wish to see one of the doctors
specifically, please tell us when you make your appointment.
When you make your appointment, be sure to give yourself time for the office visit. We like to talk.
If you are coming in with a medical concern, we will be taking time not only for the exam,
but also for the explanation of the problem and the rationale of the treatment plan. We will go
through many well cat issues at your annual visits, performing a thorough physical exam and having a
discussion about appropriate vaccinations based on your cat's lifestyle.
Expect to hear about routine recommendations such as periodic testing for leukemia and FIV,
regular parasite control and dental care, and age appropriate blood testing. There are guidlines
published by several of the "powers that be" professional associations,
such as the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) and The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA),
that establish the standard of care for medical as well as "well cat" issues.
We try to follow those recommendations.
We hope this gives you some idea about the clinic philosophy and we look forward to seeing you.
